amb les mans·con las manos·with one's hands
journey through empordà
music: Eduard Rodés

The most prominent memories I have of my childhood are those of endless summers in which the center of the universe were the beaches and sea in the village of Calella. We played, sang, and fell in love. I was a believer in my soul, near the sea of my adolescence and youth, during which I discovered and came to understand what few important things I know, and on which I have to this day a dependency impossible to break free from .The mortar which holds these memories in place are the waves, the wind, the pines, the poplars, the sand, and the music. And now l’Escala, and Valldevià - forever in the Ampurdán – are there to receive me when I need to regain strength, think, and compose. For the important things, so that I may remember.

Fernando Alonso
Born in Barcelona, he has studied guitar with maestros Elio Llorens, Emilio Pujol, and Eduardo Sainz de la Maza. In 1972 he founded “Casa Sors” in Barcelona, a center dedicated to teaching as well as the sale and restoration of guitars. His passion has been to adapt popular music to the classical guitar. With the participation of Carles Trepat, he has dedicated considerable effort to the study of the life and work of the Barcelonan guitarist and composer Miguel Llobet, helping in this manner to reinstate his place in the history of music. In 1990 he invented the “keyed guitar,” which expands the possibilities of the six string classical guitar.
